Buenandanza: A Packaging Design by Antonio Cuenca

Embracing Serenity and Simplicity

Inspired by the desire to live in the present moment and embrace new experiences, Buenandanza is a packaging design that symbolizes serenity, balance, and simplicity. Created by renowned designer Antonio Cuenca, this design aims to break free from preconceived ideas and invite individuals to embark on their own unique journey.

The Buenandanza packaging design stands out with its unique claim of "the lived experiences." It embodies qualities of balance, restraint, modesty, and intrigue, which are reflected in the design and how it is perceived. The bottle itself appears to have two distinct skins: a vibrant blue color for the packaging and a white wrap-around label. These finishes create a pleasant and warm drinking experience, while the rounded shapes and thickness of the bottle convey a sense of quality.

Technologically, Buenandanza is crafted using tinted glass, a paper label, and stamping techniques. The opaque and tinted glass prevents light from penetrating, ensuring the preservation of the oil. The label, designed in white, adds a natural touch to the overall aesthetic.

Measuring 100 x 57 x 176 mm with a 500ml capacity, Buenandanza is a small and robust bottle that is easy to use. It features a non-drip, non-refillable DOP cap, ensuring a hassle-free experience. The design also takes into consideration the importance of conservation, with the tinted glass protecting the oil from light exposure.

The Buenandanza project began in November 2021 in Ubeda and was completed in January 2022. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to emphasize the concept behind the design. The deep dark blue color was chosen to evoke a sense of serenity, while the symbols on the label represent the possibilities that arise when one breaks free from preconceived ideas. The muted color palette, composition, and label design work together to create visual harmony.

One of the main challenges in creating Buenandanza was to connect with a target audience seeking a more conscious rhythm of life in a fast-paced and disconnected world. The design needed to stand out from traditional brands in the oil sector and communicate a sense of goodwill in simple terms. To enhance the user experience, two types of finishes were incorporated: a tinted glass bottle and a textured paper label.

Antonio Cuenca's Buenandanza packaging design has been recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate exceptional technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
